My vision

The History of Zaphare

I quickly want to take a moment to tell you about my vision for Esports. During my childhood, I used to play football with many of my friends. After some good performances, I even got scouted and was able to attend a training camp for the FC Basel. Sadly, I started having problems with my knee and could not pursue that journey. In September 2015 I started my journey with Rocket League. I have played other games before like Minecraft, Pokemon and Monster Hunter, but I never really got hooked or had the opportunity to show that talent in me. A good friend of mine showed me the game and convinced me to download it onto my laptop. It was a lot of fun learning new things and getting better at the game.

In September 2017, around 2 years after taking up the game I was approached by another Swiss Rocket League Player that has found me through a rank tracker. At that time, I was the highest ranked Swiss Rocket League player and he asked me if we could play a tournament together. It was the qualifier for the offline final which took place at the Fantasy Basel on a small stage. After some close games, we won a qualifier and prepared for the finals. I had not played in any tournaments before so all of this was very new to me. At the Fantasy Basel, we got destroyed by the team that used to be Servette Geneva Esports at that time.

Shortly after losing to Servette Geneva at the Fantasy Basel, their manager approached me and asked if I would join their lineup. From that moment on, I started discovering the big world of Esports. I started playing many tournaments and had big success in Switzerland and some peaks on the international scene. The biggest success in the international space was our qualification to the RLRS, which was the second highest league for Rocket League in Europe. We did not have great results, but already qualifying was a big thing for us. From then on, we continued winning most competitions in Switzerland and having okay results in the broader space.

Experiences

Over the last few weeks and months I have taken some time off from Rocket League. I used to focus quite hard on improving in Rocket League and get good results. However, I want to start doing more towards what makes me happy. Throughout my time in the Esports industry I started to appreciate all friendships I was able to find through Esports. There are so many people that share interests with me and working alongside them has motivated me increadibly much to work more in the scene. One of the coolest things for me is showing the game to new people and seeing them having fun and enjoy it.

Because of these reasons I will shift my focus on creating an organized and positive environment in the Swiss Esports Scene especially in Rocket League. There is a lot of toxicity and negative attitude in Esports overall and I want this to change and be an influencer towards a positive and happy environment.

My vision

Finally, my vision for Swiss Esports and maybe one day Esports overall is to create a positive and respectful environment where people can enjoy their shared interests together and find new friendships. Esports should be a place where everyone is accepted and we have fun with each other. I have experienced a lot of toxicity and disrespectful players and this needs to stop. We all enjoy the same game and this should unite us. Even sharing the interest in enjoying Esports should unite us. We need to learn to accept each other even if someone is not as good in a game. Try to have fun with it, build friendships, enjoy the time you put in and have fun!

I am working on my discipline to stay active, keep publishing news and work on projects to get towards my vision. In case you are interested in helping or have a great idea, please feel free to contact me. The work is more fun in a team and motivating each other can help a lot. Esports in Switzerland

Rocket League

Rocket League is probably the best Esports Game to start with. It is very simple to learn the basics and have fun with it. There is a cool community and a lot of tournaments to compete in. The game is for people across all ages. Everyone can have fun with games and I would really recommend you to give it a try. You are parents of a gamer and don't want your child to play a game with a lot of violence in it? Rocket League is your best solution. In Switzerland the Rocket League Community is very friendly and supports newcomers.

You want to get into Rocket League but don't know how?
You have questions about Rocket League or want to get informed about esports in general?

Get in touch with me and I'll be happy to explain it to you and try to answer all of your questions.

Give it a try!

People are sceptic about esports in Switzerland. It can be very complicated if you are new to it, but it's actually quite simple. Choose a game you want to see and give it a try. I'd recommend you to watch the TCS Esports League that is live every Monday evening at 19:00 CEST throughout their season. It is about the best Rocket League teams in Switzerland playing against each other in a League, which is casted in english by professionals.

Get involved!

There are a lot of very cool people in the swiss esports scene. Most people can only see the surface, but there is much more. The probably most used plattform in esports is Twitter. Therefore check out your favourite players on twitter and follow them if you want to stay updated. Some players are streaming on Twitch, to show you how they play or interact with their viewers. Others are producing videos on Youtube. There's a lot of content creation out there, so don't think everything is bad, because you saw one bad streamer or one bad video.

If you want to get more into the Swiss Rocket League Community and connect to people, join the Swiss Community Discord. Discord is the most used tool for gamers to communicate. It's free and very simple to use.

Connect to new people!

Through esports, you can connect to people that share the same interests. Personally, I got to know many other players from the Rocket League scene and they became friends over time. In the Swiss Rocket League Scene, most people know each other because it's rather a small community. This makes offline events pretty nice. Overall we're trying to work together as a community to build up something cool together to help the Swiss Esports Scene to grow. If you feel like you are motivated to join the Swiss Rocket League Community or want to help making esports something better, you can always contact me or get in touch with someone you know from the Swiss Esports Community.

Visit or watch Events

Offline Events are probably the best part for me. The atmosphere is cool and you have to play your absolute best to make it on stage for the final matches. However, most tournaments and events are streamed online over Twitch or YouTube, so make sure to follow your favorite players on Twitter to see announcements early and be prepared for matchdays to support them in the chat or simply by watching. I am sure many players appreciate this a lot.
